| | | | The cottage is just a 10-minute stroll away from the centre of Cahuzac-sur-Vère and its three boulangeries, excellent butcher’s shop/delicatessen, post office, bank and small supermarket. For lunch, we recommend "La Bonne Auberge", which has a good value "Menu du Jour", and "La Falaise" for supper. For really superb cuisine, try "Le Grand Ecuyer" in Cordes-sur-Ciel (15 minutes away), which has a Michelin rosette.
The picturesque bastides of Castelnau-de-Montmiral, Cordes-sur-Ciel and Puycelci are a short drive away. These fortified villages have spectacular panoramic views from their hilltop positions and several are listed amongst the "Plus Beaux Villages de France". |
| | | | If you fancy venturing further afield, the historic town of Albi is well worth exploring. It has cobbled pedestrianised streets, attractive half-timbered houses, superb (but pricey) antique shops, stylish boutiques and innumerable tea shops and cafés overlooking elegant squares - and the town’s Toulouse-Lautrec Museum and splendid cathedral should not be missed.
The ancient walled cité of Carcassonne is also a fascinating place to visit, as is the elegant city of Toulouse, with its wonderful architecture, art galleries and restaurants. |
