Cahuzac-sur-Vère is 15 minutes from the market town of Gaillac. Situated in the heart of one the oldest wine-growing regions in France, Gaillac is renowned for its vineyards, which produce high quality red, rosé, white and sparkling wines. The town has several "caves des vins" where you can taste the local wines - and there is a Wine Festival in August. Every Friday, there is a lively market, where you can sample and buy delicious local produce. There are also numerous cafés and restaurants where you can relax over a coffee or order a delicious lunch and try some of the regional specialities.

Closer to home, we recommend "La Bonne Auberge" in Cahuzac-sur-Vère for some tasty home cooking - or the Michelin-starred "Le Grand Ecuyer" in Cordes-sur-Ciel for that extra-special meal out.

If you enjoy exploring local markets, we recommend the farmers’ markets in Cordes-sur-Ciel, Rabastens and St-Antonin-Noble-Val. Many of the towns also have craft fairs and antique fairs (brocantes). Further details can be found in the local Tourist Office.

Throughout the summer months, many of the towns and villages also hold a succession of festivals to celebrate such things as the local mushrooms and garlic. Live bands encourage you to wine, dine and dance alfresco. And if you can be heard above the music, they are often good occasions for practising your French with the locals!

Sporting activities on offer in the area include rambling, fishing, cycling, tennis, canoeing, water-skiing, windsurfing, golf, horse riding and hang-gliding, if you’re feeling really energetic!
